Vermilion Energy Germany is led by Albrecht Moehring, P. Eng. Albrecht has more than 30 years of diverse experience in the exploration and production business with independent oil and gas company Preuss ag Energie as well as integrated energy company GDF Suez. Since 1982 he has held various reservoir, production and drilling engineering and management roles while working for Preussag Energie in Germany and went on to take increasing senior level management positions in general management, production operation, exploration and project development functions during the global E&P expansion of Preussag Energie both in Germany and internationally. With GDF Suez since 2003, Albrecht held the position of Group Exploration and Operations Manager in Paris, before becoming the Managing Director of the GDF Suez E&P affiliate in Germany in 2007. He is a member of the E&P board of DGMK (German Mining Research Organization) he is also a board member of the Petroleum Engineering Institute of the University of Clausthal. Albrecht earned his Master of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Clausthal, Germany in 1982.
Gerard Schut, P.Eng, is our Vice President of European Operations. He brings over 25 years of international experience in the oil and gas industry including strong HSE, subsurface, operations, asset development, acquisitions and divestitures. In his most recent position prior to joining Vermilion, he was the General Manager of Chevron's E&P business in the Netherlands, responsible for business development and production activities offshore. He successfully increased gross production from 5,000 BOE/d in 2005 to 25,000 BOE/d in 2011 and led the acquisition and development of industry firsts in shallow gas development in the North Sea. During his 10-year tenure with Unocal in Thailand, Gerard successfully introduced slimhole drilling with monobore completions, reducing capital cost and improving recovery efficiency. As Asset Manager he initiated the fast-track appraisal and development of the Plamuk, Surat and Yala oil reservoirs in the predominantly gas-rich area around Platong, resulting in oil production rates reaching over 50,000 boe/d and booked reserves exceeding 200 MMboe's. Gerard holds a MSc degree in Petroleum Engineering from Delft University (1986) and an MBA from Henley, The Management College, Brunel University (1996).
